Electronics Hazardous Materials

***EXCITING NEWS***

The Jefferson County Commission is expanding items accepted at the April and October HHW Events to include glass bottles/jars of all colors, plastics labeled as 1 and 2, and aluminum cans!

**Waste Disposal Information**

Certain items should not be poured down sinks or drains, flushed down toilets, or discarded in storm drains or regular trash. Jefferson County residents can drop off household hazardous waste, electronics, and used cooking oil and grease for free at various locations throughout the year.

The Jefferson County Commission funds these household hazardous waste (HHW) events in partnership with the Jefferson County Department of Health and the City of Bessemer. The Commission also funds electronic drop-off events in collaboration with the City of Mountain Brook and Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc.
